  THE GEORGE HARRISON DOCUMENTARY
DIRECTED BY MARTIN SCORSESE

An untitled feature film documentary about the life of George Harrison. This film will cover the multi-faceted musician’s life, focusing not only on Harrison’s Beatles career but also his hugely successful solo music career, his foray as a film producer and the Eastern spiritual pursuits that were so key to how he led his life.

The film is directed by Martin Scorsese, whose most recent pictures are the forthcoming Shine A Light, about The Rolling Stones, The Departed (winner of the Academy Award for Beat Picture) and Spitfire’s No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.

Scorsese will also produce the picture with Olivia Harrison and Nigel Sinclair in a co-production between Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, Harrison’s Grove Street Productions, and Sinclair’s Spitfire Pictures.

The film will be edited by David Tedeschi and executive produced by Margaret Bodde for Sikelia Productions, both of whom were also part of the team for No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.

GUYS N’ DIVAS: BATTLE OF THE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICALS

A fly-on-the-wall look at the all-singing, all-dancing world of high school musicals.  As competitive as playing on the football field or making the cheerleading team, up to 3000 high school musicals were staged last year with some shows having budgets of up to $150,000. The goal is to reach the babbled Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska—the equivalent of the Super Bowl for these high school musicals. A documentary in the vein of Spellbound and Mad Hot Ballroom that promises endless drama.

Written and directed by Barry Blaustein, whose work includes the award-winning documentary Beyond the Mat about the world of professional wrestling, the project is being co-produced by Lionsgate through its highly successful feature-length documentary unit and Showtime. Blaustein is also a well known screenwriter whose credits include Coming to America and The Nutty Professor
